- September 30th – October 1st, Prague, Czech Republic
DGI Central & Eastern Europe is set to become the region’s largest annual gathering dedicated to discussing the major challenges of integrating the region’s defence and government Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities into the EU and NATO operations around the world. It has become imperative for eastern European countries to integrate their GIS strategies and capabilities with the overall European infrastructure and operational capabilities of the EU and NATO.
The central & eastern European member states are currently re-designing and developing their GIS strategies in line with the new requirements of the EU and NATO. Challenges such as achieving cross-border interoperability, tackling refugee and narcotics trafficking, supporting in-theatre operations in Afghanistan, Iraq require strategic support from GIS services of each European nation and will be addressed during the conference.
DGI CEE will bring together Heads of Geospatial Intelligence, GIS, Remote Sensing, Operations, and Imagery and Analysis, to provide a unique forum to discuss and debate the challenges and future strategies for GIS capabilities in central & eastern Europe.
The conference will address the use of GIS in scenarios such as situational awareness, full in-theatre & strategic interoperability, cooperation between the new member states, border control, refugee trafficking prevention, environmental protection, crime, security.
A fundamental objective of the event is to promote the role of GIS in defence and civilian operations in central & eastern Europe, help defence and law enforcement organisations take full advantage of the latest GIS technologies in joining the EU and NATO.
